Proposed Vardent Bank

Banking for enterprise and lasting prosperity

We are developing the concept for a Nigerian banking institution focused on productive businesses, essential services and responsible access to finance. The proposed Vardent Bank would bring together enterprise understanding, sound stewardship and a clear commitment to customer value.

The institution we intend to build

Our ambition is to support viable businesses through useful financial relationships: understanding their cash flow, helping them manage obligations and developing financing that supports productive activity.

The business model under consideration includes a non-interest approach. The final licence category, ownership structure, operating geography and service range will be determined through feasibility work, governance decisions and the applicable regulatory process.

Why we are considering non-interest finance

Non-interest finance can link financial arrangements to identifiable assets, trade or investment activities. Its structures require appropriate contracts, clear responsibilities and specialist governance.

Such finance is not necessarily free of cost. Customers must understand the total price, rentals, fees, risks and obligations associated with the particular arrangement. Any future Vardent offering would need to meet the relevant regulatory requirements and the standards applicable to the chosen model.

Our proposed customer focus

We intend to examine the needs of established small businesses, producers, distributors and eligible essential-service providers. Particular attention will be given to equipment, trading cycles, business records and the practical barriers that make formal finance difficult to use.

An expression of interest helps us understand demand. It does not establish eligibility, reserve a facility or commit Vardent to provide finance.

Development status

The initiative is in development. This website does not announce a banking licence, approval in principle, commencement date or operational branch network. Relevant milestones will be communicated after they have been achieved and verified.

Before any service is introduced, customers will be told the identity of the authorised provider, the scope of the service and the terms that apply.

Questions about the proposed bank

Is Vardent Bank operating now?

No. It is a proposed banking initiative, and this website does not offer bank accounts or accept deposits.

Has a final licence category been selected?

The appropriate model is being evaluated. The website will state the final category when it has been determined and can properly be announced.

Can I apply for business finance now?

You can register your business interest and describe your needs. This is not a financing application and does not create a commitment to provide funding.

Will services be available across Nigeria immediately?

No national availability is promised. Any future footprint will follow the approved operating scope and the institution’s readiness.

Is Vardent the same as Konto Fintech?

No. Konto Fintech is under EmergX Capital UK ownership and management. Vardent is the new identity being adopted for NCDF’s enterprise finance platform and proposed banking initiative.
